LK 18:18 And a certain ruler asked him, saying, Good Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?
LK 18:19 And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? none is good, save one, that is, God.
LK 18:20 Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Honour thy father and thy mother.
LK 18:21 And he said, All these have I kept from my youth up.
LK 18:22 Now when Jesus heard these things, he said unto him, Yet lackest thou one thing: sell all that thou hast, and distribute unto the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, follow me.
LK 18:23 And when he heard this, he was very sorrowful: for he was very rich.
LK 18:24 And when Jesus saw that he was very sorrowful, he said, How hardly shall they that have riches enter into the kingdom of God!
LK 18:25 For it is easier for a camel to go through a needle's eye, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.|||I think you have a point.Coming from a christian background,I think a lot of christians can be hypocritical.I put a lot of the blame on preachers who are not telling the Bible like it is and seem to be fine with status quo. It's almost like a dead faith.I believe a lot of these preachers will be judged harder than any other.I think a lot of churches in general need an awakening.|||If he loves that stuff more than Jesus, yes.
But merely owning it does not mean he's going to hell.|||Jesus was talking to that young man, and not necessarily to everyone of all time. Jesus knew this young man's heart -- it was for the law that he followed, and not for God. That is the genius of many of Jesus' sayings.
And in the 25 verse, it says it is "Easier for a camel..." but it doesn't say a rich person will never get into heaven.|||Not necessarily. But I do believe that God is going to want an accounting of how we spent the resources He provided. Some luxuries would be awfully hard to justify, given the amount of need there is in the world.|||i don't believe in hell, because i'm a Jehovah Witness, but i dont think that just because you own fancy things, that anyone would 'punish' you for it, because you most likely worked your butt off for it, and it's your decision what to do with the money|||It is not riches that get you to find the kingdom of G-D that is within you. But it could be a stumbling block. Love of G-D and mankind will get you in. Seek truth, when seeking G-D, uncover your sins, uncover the lie of religion, those who want Traditions and rituals because of family or fond thoughts lose Truth and find no Wisdom in the Hidden part were lies the Kingdom of G-D. Read Ps. 51:6 and put sin out Ps. 101.|||No, they are not going to hell because there is no such thing as hell.
Torg|||Don't talk bad about priests, lol
