Why doesn’t CNN recognize the economical importance of Brazil?

Brazilian economy is larger than Russia and Canada It’s already the 8th, and it will be the 6th largest economy of the world in 2009, according to the World Bank. But CNN is always selling a radical and biased image of the country. For instance, they said that Brazilian economy is the second of Latin America, when, in fact, it’s the second of the Americas. They also said that our economy is only 500 billion, when it’s 2 trillion.

Besides, they are always showing a radical image of poverty. In the documentary “Eyes on Brazil”, they said that 70% of Brazilians lived in slums, when the statistical analysis shows that only 5% of the population lives in that condition. They compared Sao Paulo to Baghdad, and I’m living here since 1997 and I never saw a single crime. They said that Brazil is a dictatorship, when it is, in fact, a democracy, and the first country to adopt electronic ballot box, with full time coverage on Internet.|||First of all, Brazil economy is not evenly shared among the population. When 5% of a population of almost 200 millions share all the wealth, you have a tiny Sweden in a huge Bangladesh.

If only money could circulate among the population you would have an explosion of the economy. You are right when you say that Brazil is a rich country but when 5% of white post colonial land owner are all billionaire , they ship their billions in the form of investment to other countries while the average Brazilian live in a third world.

Brazil is poverty plus crime plus corruption.Corruption make the wealthiest escape paying taxes while the poorest lack the basic.Poverty lead to crime because of lack of education. All the industrial wealth of Brazil is located in the south, near sao Paolo, the megalopolis of the country,.

The most important jobs are occupied by European descent.Television portrait your society like an European society but you are in south America and most of your population is multiracial.|||CNN doesn't have a clue what it's reporting about.

And since most CNN viewers will never go to Brazil, nobody's going to call them on that.|||CNN can be reckless! I don't think you should take them too seriously.

As an American, I apologize to you.
