What causes my garage door opener to not want to close at times?

I have a Sears Craftsman garage door opener and sometimes as you push the button to close the door will start to close then right away go back up. No it's not anything in the electronic eye indicating that something is in the way. It just does this once in awhile. Sometimes after a dozen attempts to try to close it, it will then finally go down. It's like it has a mind of it's own. I should not have to adjust any sensor as it does work most of the time. But it is very annoying when it does happen.|||It sounds like it might be binding a bit. When was the last time it was lubricated? The Door Opener has a Torque setting that will cause the door to reopen, when closing, if it is binding.

I would say that either the setting is too tight or you may need to lubricate the drive mechanism or the door wheels.

Get some spray lubricant of some sort, silicone based would be good, and spray the center of each Wheel located on the sides of the Garage door. Then spray the length of the chain or screw depending upon which type of opener you have. If that does not work it is probably the Torque setting and I am unable to tell you how to adjust that without seeing your manual. It should be some screw adjustments on the side or back of your opener. One will be for Opening and the other for Closing. Adjust the Closing.

If it is a Chain Drive the Chain may have streched and need to be tightened. This happens with age.

Corsaire Gas Furnace by Rheem?

I have a Rheem Corsaire gas furnace that is giving me problems. When I turn the thermostat up it cycles on, exhausts the gas, the igniter warms up, the gas comes on and the burner lights. It stays on for about 15 seconds before the gas stops and the flames go out. If I leave it on then the blower motor circulates cold air. The cycle will continue with the furnace continually being cold and blowing cold air. I have cleaned the electronic eye sensors (3 of them - one left, one right, and one looking down). without any change. Do they have reset buttons? Can the entire system be reset?

Can anyone help me with this problem?|||You have a bad flame sensor. It is a metal rod with a wire attached to it in direct contact with the flame. It should be in line with the burner farthest from the ignitor. It is a real pain to get out but you can take it out and scrub it lightly with one of those green dish scrubbing pads(definitely not sandpaper). Put it back in and try it again. If it still will not prove flame you will need to replace that flame sensor. BTW the copper thermocouple is for use on standing pilot units that do not have ignitors and maintains the pilot lit. You don't have this type.|||There is a thermocouple that tell unit flame is on. If it goes bad this will happen.

It looks like a very small copper line that goes into the fire box. Buy and install a new one you should be ok.|||b

Large companies will hire you if you can answer this question in the interview?

There are EIGHT jars of marbles of which 7 holds marbles weighing ONE GRAM each. In the remaining jar, the marbles each weigh 1.1 grams. You also have an electronic balance which you can only use ONCE. That is, you can only look at it once. You are not allowed to fix your eyes on it, while altering what you are putting on the scales. Now the question is: how can you find out which jar it is that is holding the marbles that weigh 1.1 grams?|||What's teh answer?

Should females really be encouraged to "game"?

I don't understand why one would condone encouraging the vulnerable young minds of today's female youth to start gaming. They are not naturally blessed with the intensive hand-eye coordination skills required for electronic gaming.

Not to mention that they shouldn't be exposed and allowed to bond with their dirty-minded, hormone-driven male counterparts in such a setting.|||To be honest I don't really think its encouraged that females play video games and the girls that do game are most likely to have started from brothers, boyfriends or just friends. I'm a girl that plays xbox and it all started because my boyfriend played xbox. I would go over to his house to see him and he would just sit on his xbox half the time playing all them shooting games. He then decided to buy a new xbox and gave me his old one. I was just going to use it to watch dvds on my tv in my room. My boyfriend then gave me a game that had all these different mini games on it coz he thought I might like it. I started playing a few of them and they became quite fun. He then started joining me into his games that are two player and from then on we always play xbox together. Its not something we do constantly when we see each other. if we just want a night in we will lay on the bed together with a bowl of chippies or popcorn and try and achieve the goals in the game to finish it completely. Its kinda like a little bonding time. We do it instead of watching movies, which is more interactive and fun.

My advice to girls whose boyfriends play a lot of games is to get involved with it because it is a lot of fun when playing together. AND with things like xbox, you can talk to each other over the chat so when your not together your able to talk as well as play together.

You kind of sound a little sexist with this question to be honest with you... 'They are not naturally blessed with the intensive hand-eye coordination skills required for electronic gaming.' Who really cares if girls play games anyway?

P.S how old are you because you sound like your 10000 years old :/|||By saying that you sound like Gaming is a disease upon our culture? Gaming has been around for the past 25+ years but back then Gaming wasn't as widely accepted as it is now. It was considered a nerd thing and such but you fail to realize that even young girls were sitting alongside their brothers back in 1985 playing Super Mario Bros on the NES. Why are you stereotyping Females by saying that you think they lack the "intensive hand-eye coordination" to play the modern games of today. I know so many females who play Xbox 360 and PS3 (not just the games like on the Wii which most guys seem to classify as a "chick console") and not only the more casual games but the hardcore shooters and blood and guts games as well and on top of that all are reasonably good and i would go so far as to say are better than many males. To say that females should be discouraged from gaming is a very narrow-minded statement. Yes there are negative influences mainly ONLINE but that doesn't necessarily mean that everyone has to play online on Call of Duty to be considered a "Gamer". If you enjoy doing something than do it even if it bothers certain people like you.|||there is no philosophy to gaming. You just pick up the controller and go. Gaming is directed to everyone, its not like there is only one game to play. Girls can play, boys can play. Its your desicion.

And i know you are referring to the Call of Duty series. Think about it. At any one time there are over a million people online across the world. Can you honestly label 1.5 million people as "dirty-minded, hormone-driven males?" Sure there are people who swear and throw slang but thats a handful. And there is no handicaps between males and females in gaming. It really depends how much practice you have. I admit I've been wooped around by girls in COD and likewise with boys. Its something everyone does.

If you enjoy it, you can play; no strings attached.|||No one is pressuring you to play video games or anything. It an option of what to do in your free time. Also as you stated, "They are not naturally blessedwith the intensive hand-eye coordination skills," playing video games would increase Han eye coordination...|||why shouldn't they? gaming (not excessively) is proven to HELP hand-eye coordination skills! the point isn't that they can't, it's because games are fun as well! if you want some support, check out the OpticGirls channel on youtube. Theyve got girls playing all sorts of video games!|||Well just because your a weakling doesnt mean we should follow right after you. %26gt;.%26lt;

I'm a girl and i game, ive been gaming since i was a little kid. M-rated! ^_^ And i love resident evil! I love mario games! I love the sims, i just love video games in general.

I hate stupid questions like this, what the heck? No one is stopping this girl, gamers forever! woo hoo!|||Maybe you aren't blessed with hand eye coordination but I do just fine, thanks, so speak for yourself...

Believe or not to believe that Phelps won Cavic by 10-thousandth of a second in his 7th Gold Win?

Is it that LUCKY-7 that play the part for him. The naked eyes cannot see it only the electronic eye can see. What a great thing to believe in this IT age? What is your opinion?

I have decided that he will win the 8th Gold and had given in one of my answers on Michael's performmmance. Do you believe he can do it?|||YES! I watched yesterday and too was amazed - and doubtful might I add - but today I wanted to see what was actually exchanged by the officials, the Serbians, and the US teams.

The officials spent quite some time testing the technologies used, the timing equipment - like the touchpad and its sensitivity - the video equipments, etc., and of course replayed the videos and broke them into tiny time increments and frames that they say clearly show Phelps winning. FINA (the name for international swimming officials organization or something) "determined the timing and video were working perfectly. And they broke the tape down to the 1/10,000th of a second and a couple of definitive frames showed Phelps winning."

"Phelps had not simply won by a 100th of a second, which is what the clock showed, 50.58 to 50.59, but actually by a couple 10,000ths of a second. This is an indefinable amount of time, quicker than the time it takes to blink, snap or do just about anything," the McClatchy Newspaper of Kansas City reports. I suppose it was not that visible in real time because Phelps won by a few 10,000ths of a second, which the article says in this time we can do just about nothing but blink. It's crazy, but true! I'm pretty sure I blinked during Phelps' win, so I'm sure I missed the great win.

After the review, "Serbian officials then reviewed tape then basically said 'OK, you are right.'" Cavic even admitted to the loss, saying "'To lose by a hundredth of a second is the most difficult loss you can have, especially at the Olympics. And I did see the replays.'"

I couldn't see the win for myself because it was so close, but hey, they got it solved, and both Phelps and Cavic should be proud. It was a very well fought race.

I read a few articles, but for the full article of the one I cited, click here:

|||I've said it before and I'll say it again. Michael Phelps is a true Champion in all sense of the word. He has beaten all odds to be who he is today. He has faced adversity but turned it to his advantage. We can all take a leaf from his achievements. He is an inspiration to us all. Three Cheers!

;P|||Yes he can. I believe in 'when the going gets tough, the tough got going' and this is what got his 7th gold.|||He won by one one hundreds of a second not one one thousandths but that was awesome. I hope he wins tonight. It will be a team effort so I hope they pull it off.

'Futile Crush' wanted a nice atheist vs Theist question so...?

Assuming there is a God. Assuming we would know (through the pope?) if we are doing something wrong. I'll assume we are allowed to wear glasses to enhance our vision, we are allowed to use proteases to fix our mis-formed/amputated limbs.

We now enter a era where electronic eyes are connected into our brain, as well as bionical proteases.

When we start extending or replacing sections of our brain with artificial hardware, will we still get to go in heaven? What does a neural proteases do with a soul? An electronic eye already replaces the neurons that use to be in the back of the biological eye. Will this person go to heaven with only 98% of his soul?

What about the 2%? Is that part judged for its sins at the moment of removal?

What about the man who had his entire brain scanned before death, and after his biological version died, lived 100 years longer but committed several murders?

The simulated brain was that of the now dead person, would he be judged for the actions of his 100 year old simulation?

What if someone's brain is slowly replaced, one neuron at a time over a period of 50 years? How would his soul be judged? is there even a soul in these scenarios?

Please, spout your idea's on these trans-human themed questions from both atheist as theist point of view.|||Assuming..............that ever happens, the brain is just the interface between the soul and the body and monitoring bodily functions....it has no funtion other than that

BTW That was a nice A v T question thank you|||Assuming there is a "god" is where the problems begin.|||When we start extending or replacing sections of our brain with artificial hardware, will we still get to go in heaven?

If you can point me to evidence that replacing the conscious brain with hardware is possible, then I'll consider it|||your soul doesn't go to heaven in the first place, secondly after death you are only left with your spirit which is a energy life form.. I see you don't know the diference between the two.|||proteases? Is that a woman who you pay to act like she's going to sleep with you, then changes her mind at the last minute?|||Who cares? Explain odd TV behavior....?

E-Mail my mom just sent me. Wondering if anyone can help me out here:

The tv in our bedroom keeps turning on and shutting off when we walk in and out of the room and in the middle of the night. We walk into the room - it turns on - we start to walk out and ignore it - it turns off. I took the batteries out of the remote thinking it had something to do with weak batteries and electronic eye or something, but before I took the batteries out I mute the tv to answer the phone - it mutes, then unmutes as I'm hanging up.

The relay was going on a TV we had a while ago, and it was turning itself on %26amp; off, %26amp; finally it wouldn't turn on at all. I hope this helps.|||Hi Meggybucks,

Have you put anything else that might be using infrared or radio signals in the room. A wireless phone, thermometer, wireless Internet or anything like that?

Find the little infrared window on the front of the set and put a piece of paper in front of it. See if that stops it. If it doesn't there must be a short in the set.

I would be interested in what you find out.

Good luck,

Norm|||Possible sources of the problem:

Infared devices such as security devices monitoring the room are interferring with the set.

Florescent light is turned on and off when they enter the room and as it is turned on it causes a burst of light that the set picks up (this either means the light needs to be repaired or the set may have to be sent back for repair). If it is the set it is very rare but I have seen this happen with another infared device once.

One of her neighbors may have a very powerful remote that can go through her windows. I have one that will go through clothes and still work well, and I've tried it from 40 ft away without any problem. They may be having a little fun with your mom...

Many TV's offer a choice of control patterns (like a channel choice). If your mom's TV has that choice, have her change to another one and see if it goes away for a while. If it does, it's probably her neighbors. If she doesn't have that choice, she might try covering the IR (infrared) sensor, especially at night, to keep the pranksters from doing anything. They'll get bored waiting for their chance to play again (when she finally uncovers the sensor to watch TV) and eventually give up...

Also -- a rare possibility -- one of her neighbors may have an IR illumination unit for night security cameras. Reflections from clothing or ?? may generate pulses that mimic some control functions. Unlikely, especially given the description of actions that follow the movements, but might be possible.|||Playful Poltergeist?

I have a Legacy garage door openers for my garage. Each side has its own overhead.?

On the bottom of each garage door there are two small black boxes (on on each side of the garage door---electronic eyes), one is constantly lit red, the other constantly lit green. This morning, I noticed that on one of my garage doors, one of the small black boxes (electronic eyes), is blinking red. The other black box (which should be steady green), is not green anymore (has no light at all). Now, when I try to remotely operated that garage door, I hear a faint humming in the overhead motor, but the garage door does not move. What is causing the electronic eye to blink red, and the other not to display a green light any more?? What can I do to fix this problem. The other garage door is working fine. Thank you.|||you have something going on for sure. it sounds like there is something blocking the beam, or someone or something knocked into one of them, and knocked them out of whack.

the thing i am not sure about, is why your door won't go up. i always thought that they would go up with this error, but simply would not go back down. the fact that your door hums, but won't go up with this error, makes me think you might have a bigger problem|||These are safety equipment - designed to stop the door if/when someone runs under the door while it is operating. They bounce a light beam from one to another. If that beam is broken, the door 'assumes' that something is blocking the path and it won't close. In order for the door to operate, the two small 'black boxes' need to be pointing directly at each other so that the light is unobstructed.

EDIT: I believe that the one that is now blinking and the other doesn't have a green light because they aren't aligned (properly sending / receiving that light beam I mentioned above). Try to line them up and see if it doesn't change.

Straight line cutter

Magnetic head cutter

Electronic eye cutter

CNC cross carriage cutter

Any help would be great as I'm having trouble finding these

Thank you|||Straight line cutter is a simple machine which basically cuts sheets to a specific length in a straight line cut

The magnetic head cutter has a magnetic tracer which follows the edge of a mild steel template and profile is as per shape at the template.

Electronic eye cutter has an optical photoelectric tracer which can follow template silhouettes or a drawn line on paper.

CNC cross carriage cutter has a Computer Numerical Control which is programmed to cut a profile as per the input data at the control. Typically, with these controls you draw the required profile on the console or on a separate computer using the simplified programming language to translate a profile into digital instructions for the machine to follow to cut the profile.|||http://www.google.com/search?rlz=1C1LAVF鈥?/a>

Need help identifying an anime?

About a month or so ago, I was watching an anime on Adult Swim late at night. I didn't see all the episode, but I started on a part where two really buff characters were fighting for the sake of friendly competition. One had one electronic eye and blonde hair in a ponytail. Then, throughout the episode, they talked about how a person who has something like an electronic eye has a weak spot while fighting and almost always can be defeated for it. In the end, the character with the electronic eye ends up just being undercover and part of an organization and the other character was smuggling something I think. They fight again, but for real this time and not just for friendly competition, and the one with the electronic eye ends up blocking when the guy who is getting caught goes for his weak spot and defeats him. On the way back, the guy with the electronic eye meets up with the wife of the guy he just caught and she gives him a bottle of a drink he drank when he went over to their house. When he goes back to the organization's headquarters or whatever, he smashes the bottle. The animation reminded me of Fullmetal Alchemist, but I'm not going to jump to conclusions.

Any suggestions?|||Just to disagree with the first answer~

It can't be Bleach, because if it reminded her of Full Metal Alchemist, then they would be fighting using things other than Zanpakutos, and Kira doesn't have hair in a ponytail.

Why does there seem to be voting problems in Election '08 when we saw it coming for months and years?

There are reports of people voting for Obama on electronic machines and the vote switching to McCain before their eyes. There are long lines at early voting sites. I can't imagine what will happen on Nov 4. What are your thoughts?|||There are always reports of something or the other, and I highly doubt that the voter kiosks are preprgrammed to change Obama votes to McCain votes if the vote is switching right before their eyes than it can be fixed before they officially cast their ballot. I think this it what one would call a voting urban myth. The issue here is were lacking chads so people now have to make this stuff up. As for long lines deal with it, it only goes to show the good voter turn out. Quite frankly I would be more worried about recent laws in some states that may throw out certain votes due to a voters information not matching exactly what is on file, or absentee ballots that forgot to include a photocopy of their identification than kiosk malfunction.|||That people lie to get on the news.|||Media hype. Single eye glasses tv built and 2nd eye lens clear visable so I can see where I am going when walking in park?

Is there a electronic device in market yet for sale any where like this?

ON 1 side I can see 100% clear through what is in front of me , where I am going 2nd lens I can watch Videos well walking

I can put glasses on and watch either Live local TV change channals , or at least Video files any format MPEG2/Mpeg4 / AVI /XVid /DivX, and alike!!

I would be able to walk in a park watch the Show on 1 or the 2 eyes , and Better if I could control each ear head audio output small speaker seperatly TOO , that way I can listen to what is going on around me with 1 ear and 2nd ear list to what the TV or Video recored show is saying or vis-versa! And choose witch ear to use for listening to VIDEO/AUDIO and witch ear to listen to what is going on around me!!

IF I could change where video would be RIght or left lense THAT WOULD BE BEST EVER!!|||There was one 20-30 years ago. It didn't sell too well, so they went out of production.

My eyes burn and run if i look at any electronic more then 5 min what should i do?

i have good vision so thats not the problem...|||I remember reading a study that showed that blinking slowed significantly when watching a video screen. Decreased blinking causes the eyes to dry out, and that can cause burning.

ake sure that you are taking visual breaks from whatever you are doing, and use non-preserved artificial tears (Visine tears, refresh tears....NOT Visine drops) to rewet your eyes.

If this doesn't solve your problem, schedule a visit with your optometrist.|||BLINK!!!!!!

hahahaha

that question was amazing,.

--Miss*Sierra--

xx|||Look for less than 5 minutes at a time.|||This is not an uncommon problem...especially in this electronic, computerized world we live in today. When you are staring at your computer, or your hand-held video gaming thing, or your Blackberry...you have a tendency to blink less, which causes your eyes to dry out.

You can try taking frequent breaks while on your computer or playing video games. Stop what you're doing every 30-45 minutes, get up walk around, and allow your eyes to focus on objects that are at least 10 feet away for a few minutes. This will keep your eyes from feeling so strained when you are using electronic things.

Also, as the person above me mentioned, using lubricating artificial tears will help with the dryness. NOT VISINE!!! Not the same thing...you want Refresh or any other artificial tears that will lubricate and refresh your eyes. I also have VERY dry eyes, to the point where I cannot wear contacts at all and I am going to be starting Systane eye drops, recommended by the OD that i work with...

Put a few drops in your eyes as directed on the box whenever you feel your eyes are drying out...

Good luck!

What are some good color combination?

I'm making an electronic poster in Photoshop for a school project and one of the criteria is color harmony. It should be eye-catching and looks interesting but not in a too bright rainbow ima puke way.|||I find that green (not fluro, but lighter than forest green), orange and purple look good together. Purple and yellow(subdued yellow) look nice together too. If you want something eye catching, try the first option.

What causes the weird colours and patterns that you can see when you run your eyes?

If you've never done this before, close your eyes, and rub them with your hands until you start seeing all kinds of random shapes and colours... it's kind of like a kaleidoscope, and almost seems computer-generated or electronic...

I used to do it all the time aa a kid, and still do it now sometimes when my eyes are tired. Does anybody know what causes it, I would love to know more about this phenomenon.

Thanks.|||You are simply stimulating your optic nerve, but instead of

using light, you are stimulating it with mechanical pressure on

your eyeball. You get that random dot pattern because the

pressure is transmitted through the fluid, spread over the

whole retina, and to the optic nerve. If it were possible to

transmit the pressure to one specific point, you would see

light just at that one point.

How to prevent eye pain caused by computer monitors ?

Hello,

I'm currently studying for my new job .. and the only option for me is to read electronic books on my laptop since I don't have any printed material for it. and thus , I work on computer 8 hours a day in average and some times more.

I get pain in my eye and some times headache... I tried to place the monitor 2 feets away .. and applied 20/20/20 rule .. but I don't feel much better ..

I noticed that this happened when I started working on the laptop , as many times I lay on my back and put it on my chest about 1 feet away until first eye pain happened ..

is there any cure for that ... and if it's in clear and simple english ( as it's not my native language) i'd be very thankful.|||I would suggest a monitor screen. It darkens the screen in a different way than adjusting the settings.

If this doesn't work, you may need to go to the eye doctor and tell them the problem and they can run better more acurate tests.

Good luck, I hope it gets better.|||Wear sunglasses...that helps me get rid of eye pain|||Try a monitor filter. Adjusting the brightness and contrast may also help.|||See if you can get special glasses for when you're on the computer.

You should also look at an object at a far distance every couple minutes, take a break, and walk around. This gets your eyes focusing on something thats not soo close to your face(which is causing the eye strain)

How to correct Left Eye pain/blur?

I recently paid a visit to the eye doctor twice, the first time was to get new prescription lens for my glasses, and the second time was to fix a problem with the new lens they gave me. The main problem in the first place and still now, is that I see a slight blur on electronic images like when I'm playing a game on TV, also when I look at an illuminated SONY logo on the tv I see a double image with only my left eye. I'm getting slight headaches because of this and it seems that my left eye is straining and I get tired after looking through my glasses for prolonged periods of time. My left eye is throbbing and so is the left part of my head. Someone please help because this problem is really annoying. Thanks.|||all i can say is see a doctor.

|||This is the exact same thing that happens to patients following cataract surgery and lens replacement, in the eye.

If you haven't had either, then I think the lens in the eyeglasses is not correct.

They will tell you that you need to adjust yourself and get used to it, but it won't change.

I would be re-examined and possibly be fitted with a different lens.

Is there an Electronic Whiteboard that doesn't require a pc?

At our office we store data on our clients interested orders on a whiteboard for us to keep an eye on during the day. However due to data protection we need to stop this. I've been checking around trying to find out whats going on, even going as far as to get in contact with David Icke for some insight. This as been affecting me the last couple of years and is no joke, I've seen several people acting and talking as if they had this on them to, and they were aware of something abnormal. I think this is the tip of the iceberg on what is to come out of European Union and world wide conspiracy and a one world government, part of that all seeing eye. Something weather on me or not is constantly talking about what ever. It just rambles on to draw my attention to it, I try to ignore it but the more it goes on, almost incoherantly. It has the ability to keep your mind semi focused on it and you feel like your day dreaming about something but in reality your mind is draw to this heckling voice. I sometimes find myself talking loudly to try to override this problem. It sounds ridiculous but you feel like being bugged, I've talked to several people who report similar cases. If you have some answers or share information please contact me and we can get in touch via phone or email this is just a fraction of what has happened. thanks for your time and look forward!

|||I recommend a good psychiatrist.

Seriously, do you really think that your life is interesting enough for a national government, let alone us hidden masters, to be interested in?

Is Technology & Electronic advancements in society, turning us into robots, and less caring for each other?

And are we losing our Human traits--im all for the future, but not the usual profit making electronic version, there is absolutely no advancement in human matrimony in the past 20 years,

and ive noticed in recent years, Music Tv, cell phones, laptops, mp3 players, texting, internet, computer games, online shopping, Ipod, and a throwaway culture, i think its too much now, i feel clogged down by it all, and im still only in my early 30's, i feel sorry for future generations, when they have completely lost all form of human interaction via speaking, eye contact, ----the way i see it, kids are being turned into walking gadgets---people say what would they do with out them, i say Imagine what we could do with out them.|||"Imagine what we could do with out them."

The same we could 100 years ago.

Fact is, we are changing into something different. A new species. When people think of a cyborg, they think of someone with mechanical and electronical implants. But cybernetics does not automatically imply actual surgical alteration - just interaction and feedback between the organic and the mechanical. A human being who has access to Internet, is fully versed in its use and has a mobile connection, in effect possesses a cybernetic memory. Compared to our ancestors from 100 years ago, we are superbeings.

Of course, once certain things are integrated, we shall be superbeings of a more classic kind. Will this change society? Yes. Will this, in turn, change mankind? Yes. Can this be stopped? No.|||Do you really believe the technology advances have affected human relations in a less caring way? Your question appears to be a statement of your opinion. Could such attitudes be increased by the utter violence, depicted in most of the films that are produced in the US of A in the past 50 years? They are distributed all over the world by way of 'trade deals', and countries are literally forced to accept them by way of such trade.

Drumset vs. Electronic Drum Sticks vs. Guitar?

I'm thinking of learning(for fun) how to play drums or the guitar. Most of my friends already play the guitar, so I was thinking of learning drums.

Are electronic drum sticks(you know, the ones you can play any where) that good? Can you make the different drum sounds and everything? I'd rather not have a drumset in my tiny room or my dad's tiny apartment.

Is a guitar better? I already had my eye on one. I could also learn bass guitar.

Which one out of all of these would you probably perfer? Also, fairly cheap prices would be nice :-)

-Jocelyn|||If you like bass, this is the most sought after instrument because , for every 100 guitar player, their might be 1 bassman.

You are sure to find work or bands. Once you play bass, drummers are always after you because, drummers practice more with a bassman than with a guitar player.

Fender have kits for $250 including the amp, tuner etc....|||Try them all out and see whcih you one you like the most...

Go to a music store and fool around with them for a while.

I play both guitar and drums...

Honestly at 15 , I started off playing guitar...then it got stolen...

so at 16...I took up drums and stayed with it for the next 20 years...then in 1998 I took up guitar again after and accident.

I dont recommend electronic drum sticks for beginners because they dont have the authentic "bounce back feel" you need for doing stroke rolls, rudiments, etc on the drum kit.

They may be cute and all. But they are a like fun toy to have , but not to learn real drumming stroke rolls, rudiments with.

I'd say buy yourself a decent pair of drum sticks and a good simple, practice pad like a "REMO" or "REELFEEL" one and learn that way to start off with.

If you are going to take up drums...

Also, get a small, practice pad kit, they are cheap and REMO makes them too. They are like a real cheap kit without all the noise!!!...LOL They also dont take up too much room either.

But, if you have more passion and fun with one intrument than the other. I'd say go with the one you like most instead.

If you want to do both, better start saving your cash big time cause it wont be cheap to do both!!!=)

Honestly, you can whatever you want. But try them all out first. Who knows what musical talents you have until you discover them? Good luck

Is the Amazon Kindle DX worth the money?

I am buying my mom a Electronic book reader. I have my eye set on the Amazon kindle, but a friend said I should buy her the DX. What is your opinion? I can afford both, but don't want to pay extra for nothing.|||The new Amazon Kindle DX is finally here. A lot has been said and written ( and guessed ) about the latest wireless reader by Amazon, and now it's here for all of us to see. Does Kindle DX really live up to everyone's high expectations, or is this launch just the result of an extremely effective marketing campaign? Is Kindle DX cheap considering everything Amazon claims it can do?

http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?u鈥?/a>

Let's go straight to the point :

When you open the box, the first thing that calls your attention is Kindle DX's size. For those among you who want a comparison between a cheaper Kindle 2 and an (also cheap, read on) Kindle DX, here it is: even though the new Kindle DX is extremely thin (just one third of an inch), its screen is as big as the whole Kindle 2nd generation. This means, of course, much better readability, but it also means you will probably have some problems carrying it with just one hand, unless you have pretty big hands. One more piece of advice for you on Kindle DX's weight: it's almost twice as heavy as Kindle 2. Truth be told, I do not find it to be a problem at all as neither one is really that heavy, but again it might be something to take into account depending on usage.

Now, these are Kindle DX's most important features and improvements over past Kindle models:

- Native PDF support. This is really important, since many documents now come in this format. You can now download and carry around with you these documents with ease and safety.

- Bigger screen: Amazon Kindle DX's screen is 9.7'', which allows for much better readability, even when it comes to PDFs and image-rich documents.

- Better text definition: Even though it's e-link technology remains pretty much the same, text looks much better on DX than on any previous models.

- Auto rotation feature: This one is not only cool, but very useful. Just by rotating the device, you can have a full landscape view, which in fact serves as a mild zoom feature. As mentioned before, this is a most appreciated feature, particularly when viewing large images or small PDFs, whose size you can't directly alter.

- Huge storage: At 3.5 GB, it allows the Kindle DX wireless reader to store almost 3,500 books. This is more than twice the storage capacity of Kindle 2.

- Easy 5 way controller : No problem with key disposition, like in version 1, particularly.

- Wireless connectivity: No surprises here.

- Great design: Looks both modern and elegant. Minimalistic aesthetics; perfectly conceived.

http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?u鈥?/a>

Although the new Kindle DX is said to target the textbook and newspaper markets, Amazon has achieved much more with their new model. The latest version of this wireless reader addresses common problems of earlier versions ( like screen size, PDF support, design, key disposition, etc ) and improves on them considerably. The new Kindle reader is not only practical, but elegant and more convenient to use for most readers. Do all these developments justify its price ? That's for each of us to answer, particularly when the Kindle 2nd generation is still a great reading device, and it's now being sold for a fraction of its price ( check links on posts above and below ).

http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?u鈥?/a>|||Yes, read this review on the Kindle DX and you should be able to decide which one to get:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.html?i鈥?/a>

I love my Kindle very much. If you're thinking about getting the Kindle, I'll say get it instead of other ebook readers and you won't regret. Right now I've read over 50 books with the Kindle, and I really like the idea that I can bring and store all the books with the handy device. Besides, it uses the e-ink technology, it is really clear like reading books; and even I read with the device for long hours, I don't feel tired. The internet browsing comes handy as well when I want to look for information on some specific area. My only complaint is the white case, the Kindle is only sold in white at the time when I got it, but now the new Kindle has graphite case which looks much better ;)

Kindle books are cheaper than hard copies. I suggest you to read this review from a top reviewer who is also a book lover, it outlines quite a lot of benefits of the Kindle and also why it is worth especially at the end of the review:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.html?i鈥?/a>

And there are some websites, where you can find more than a million of free books for the Kindle, so that's why you no longer need to get to library, you can actually own these books:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/b/?node=2245146鈥?/a>

Hope this helps.

What does No Electronic Record Exist or Case Not Subject to Electronic Inspection mean?

Hello, I live in Maryland and my neighbor is a cop. When he first moved in he was fine, but a couple years later our sons have had disagreements. He always calls the cops to my house for strange reason, such as prank call, and things of that nature. The cops never do anything because never has proof, Sometimes he calls and my whole family would be away on vacation. Well anyway, I often keep my eye out of the maryland judicial case search website, and my neighbor and his wife have a new case filing, but I have get any info on this case. It says No Electronic Record Exist or Case Not Subject to Electronic Inspection. On my name there is nothing, but could this still involve me somehow? Shouldn't this be a public record if it's on this website? What could it be for? This just popped up yesterday when I searched his name.|||I use that website very frequently. The message "No Electronic Record Exist or Case Not Subject to Electronic Inspection" means there IS a record there associated with the name you searched, but one of two things is going on:

1. The case is in it's early stages and so has not been completely uploaded.

2. The record has been sealed by court order. A person can request this from the court under certain circumstances, especially if it is a divorce or lawsuit. http://www.courts.state.md.us/courtforms鈥?/a>

If you run your own name and get absolutely nothing, that means there are no cases where you are listed, or your search criteria are too specific.

How to get Chemical/Electronic/Science samples?

I am looking for that dark red plastic that goes on IR remotes, so that the IR light doesn't become visible to the human eye. Alone, the IR LEDs I'm using give off a dim red color visible to the naked eye. I am wanting to cover it up with that plastic (PMMA ?) so it won't be visible to the eye, yet still let the IR light through.

Can anyone recommend a good website where I can order samples? I've found a few websites, but they all require either bulk orders, or the materials are rather big. I'm looking for a square foot or less.

(If you know other websites where I can get electronic and chemical SAMPLES, not a big order, I'd very much appreciate it.)|||Isn't there a craft store in your town? See if your camera can "see" the IR from your remote. (It probably can; keep trying cameras until you find one.) Then take the remote and the camera to the craft store, and see which of the black plastic sheets you can see the remote through. (If you don't care about looks, you can probably stay home and just cut up a black plastic garbage bag.)

Otherwise, Edmund Scientific is probably your best bet for small quantities.

Electronic-ish song with a chick vocalist...?

Okay so it's electronic-sounding and it has this chick kind of speaking all...electronic-like and I'm pretty sure the gist of the song is that she's got her eye on this dude and she's like stalking him out and going in for the kill, so to speak. I can't go outside for certain reasons, so that's out of the question. I have a dog and two guinea pigs? Can they provide entertainment haha? So basically, my question is...What should I do to pass the time not burning my eyes out on electronic devices and not eating all day?|||Any ideas on a book you can write? I think we tend to waste time when we do not have jobs here. We tend to be wired, in America to get a job and work all the time, and feel USELESS without it, and waste our lives and talents without it. It's pathetic. Life is precious, should not be wasted. Electronic drum kit?

i am looking around the internet for an electronic drum kit. i notice that they are all either between 拢200-拢400 or about 拢900 - 拢1000+.

i want an electronic kit because i need to practice quietly, but can not afford the really expensive kits.

is it worth me buying one of the cheaper ones, or is it just a waste of money for a mickey mouse drum kit?

here is one i have my eye on, in my price range:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Session-Pro-Electr鈥?/a>|||I can't stand playing on the cheap kits. The rubber pads don't have the same feel as acoustic drums. Though, I might be a little spoiled since I play my church's Roland TD-12 kit that has all mesh pads and a moving hi-hat pad.

The Roland TD-3 kit has a mesh snare, which is one of the most important pads, and it costs around 拢600. Also, I have heard of the cheaper kits breaking very easily. Roland is definitely the best brand out there right now.

If you can't afford the nicer kits, use practice pads until you have more money.

Is there a device to track lost people with dementia?

My dad has been attempting to wander off, lately I have been watching him like his shadow. I am afraid that one day, in the blink of an eye he will get the ups on me and disappear. That is why I am searching for a electronic tracking device in case he gets lost from me. Anyone know of any such devices?|||angelheart - Yes, indeed, there is a device to track lost people with dementia. Contact any of your local long-term care nursing homes who have patients with dementia. That's most of them. They use an ankle or wrist band with a tracking device. Many veterinarians are now implanting such tiny devices just below the skin of pets to be able to locate them. Police have long used them in setting up traps for stolen cars. Try looking in your phone book for your local aging care service.|||yes but sadly i dont remember the name. i saw commercials on tv for the product. ALso consider joining a care givers support group. they will have them ost current and helpful info available.|||Yes, there is such a device. It's similar to the ones used by the court system for people who are on home arrest. Its called a home tracking device. The base unit stays in the person's home, while the remote locator is strapped on the person's belt. It is based on the GPS system. Type home tracking device in your search field, yahoo alone gives several sites for one.

Chriopractor used electronic gadget on head?

my chiropractor used some type of gadget put it on the left side of my brain I think massaging it with some electric currents saying that it stops the pain im feeling in my shoulder or helps with it. that spot started to pulsate last nite and today I'm having numbess and tingling on the left side of my face from above my lip to above my eye? any one here know what that was or had this?|||If I were you, and the irritation lasted into tomorrow, I'd get my tush to a doctor (a real one) ASAP.

Electronic music's "legitimacy", or lack thereof...?

What do you think is keeping electronic music and its many sub-genres from being perceived as "legitimate" music by most people, like rock or R%26amp;B? Is it because old habits die hard, because a lot of it really isn't that good, or for other reasons entirely? Personally, I hear a lot of pop music that's in the public eye (ear?) which has a lot less going for it than some amazing electronic music I've come across. So what's with the stigma?|||Simple my friend its because we live in the United States and it didn't start in the US.

European countrys view electronic music as a very legitimate form of music because it mostly originated there and is very popular there too.

Also accepted/popular EDM in the US is often very mainstream like

ex:

Paul Oakenfolds new albums featuring R%26amp;B/Rock artists :(

its a sad reality.|||Rock is built on electronics, so there's at least a partial internal contradiction in your question. If I get the jist of what you mean, though, a lot of electronica is re-editing of previously written music, and it does so on purpose. This doesn't make it less legitimate, but it does limit the esteem with which it's held, just as a lot of rock and roll can be criticized for using the same repetitive C Am F G chord structure. Only 12-bar blues can really get away with a really set structure, but there is real legitimacy with a decrescendo to pianissimo in sales.

In the movie hackers, when they are in the train station?

What is the thing that dade puts on his eye at the end for? It looks like some electronic device, but I can't figure out what it is or what it is supposed to represent, any ideas?|||I think it was just for effect. That whole movie was made to look "cool" and it was at that point in time.

Does anyone see parallels between Ancient Rome and modern day America?

Ancient Rome had volatile Caesar's and a thoroughly corrupt senate. The greatest wealth was enjoyed by a select few. And the government of that day and age knew of a very simple way to keep the masses in check. Entertainment. "Give them bread and circuses!", was the credo.

Likewise, today are people not placated and satiated by entertainment? As long as we have our cars, electronic gadgets, toys, blockbuster movies etc., people are willing to accept whatever is forced upon them. Look at how $700 billion inexplicably disappearing barely raised an eye in the public.

Give them bread and circuses? Indeed.|||While there may be some surface parallels, it is important to realize that the ancient Romans at the time of the Republic and the Empire had a very different political system and mindset than that of the American government. Drawing too close a comparison is not a very good way to evaluate either state.|||We are losing our national identity as well. Political correctness tells us to go our own way and become a victim and expect entitlements. Nobody wants to be responsible for their actions or contribute anything for the good of all. Unfortunately, most only concern themselves with where their next six-pack is coming from.|||Political corruption, big time. The American congress has more perverts than a french clown circus. Both are world super powers militarily speaking and spoils systems are used in both forms of "democracy".|||Too many people want to see the U.S. as a great world power, like Ancient Rome. It would make plenty of sense that all of these parallels exist when we use them as a role model!|||Good thinking. But in Ancient Rome they

probably had more fun i think. I mean real FUN.|||yes|||it is not as simple as that

maybe you are dissatisfied with certain government measures but US has democracy, try to live in Iraq, Iran, China, Saudi Arabia, Russia etc. for a while

Ancient Rome was an empire and naturally not perfect, corrupt senate and so on is only partly true, how could the Roman Empire exist for about 1000 years - 500 years as an empire - being such corrupt as you think

when the Roman Empire in Europe collapsed 600-800 years lasted the dark middle ages, no country could replace the Roman culture and influence, there was practically no trace of culture

the culture of Europe is based on the Greek and Roman traditions, think of maths, law, philosophy etc., try to speak with intelligent people in Europe: they know the ancient politicians and philosophers, they know ancient gods etc., naturally they do not believe in these Gods any more but in a very fine way it influences their behaviour, a good education in Europe means also to know the ancient times

US may have a lot of problems and so on but it is a balancing force since the second world war, I do not wish you to experience a life without this balancing power but maybe you will

when a strong empire collapses after that never comes a good time for a rather long period

$700 billion is nothing compared to a real crisis

"bread and circus" you may be right but be happy, in most countries there is no bread and no circus

What exactly is a "mail in rebate," and how does one qualify for it?

I always see this said on things you can purchase almost anywhere, and I was at Frys (an electronic store) looking at some of the computers earlier today, and there was this laptop that really caught my eye. The price was $899, but the sign said that with a mail in rebate, the laptop would be $799.

So what exactly is a mail-in-rebate, and how does one qualify to receive such price reductions?|||A mail-in rebate is essentially a discount that you get after you have jumped through some hoops and waited 6 to 10 weeks or more.

Generally, the receipt for the product will have instructions on how to apply. If not, ask the cashier checking you out.

You will most likely have to fill in a form and mail this form along with your receipt and the original UPC label from the product to a designated address.

Legitimate offers result in your getting a check in a couple of months. Some times they'll just tell you that you didn't follow the proper procedures and you aren't going to get your rebate.

Sometimes you don't hear anything and you don't get your check.

Ever.

Make sure you keep copies of everything you send in.|||okay, I wnet to alltell's website and put a phone in the cart and a plan. The total came to $129 with all the discounts but with the mail in rebate, it was $100 off. So is that good? and does that cover the first months payment of $69.99?

|||You usually only have to get the rebate form and fill it out and comply with whatever rules there are to get the rebate back (usually as a check) in the mail. So in your case you'd pay $899 to get the computer, but then make sure you get a rebate form (ask for it at check-out). Then you'll have so many days to get it post marked (in the mail). Then after 6-8 weeks, if everything was copacetic and you remember to keep checking your mail. you'll receieve a check. Be carefully opening it, because the check is often part of the envelope.

Electronic Babysitter? Or is mom using her time wisely?

I am often alone with my son while my husband is TDY or deployed. My son doesn't have a set TV limit and goes well over what I think is good sometimes and so I wont let him watch for a few days. Usually, though. He watches TV in the morning after he is up and dressed while I'm getting ready for work. Then he watches one show while I cook dinner and get settled after work. Sometimes two if I have some homework to do (I'm taking courses also). Usually I plop him down while I do what I need to do and he comes and gets me if he needs something. Our apartment isnt huge so i can pretty much always have an eye on him and he doesnt do much of anything else anyway (during TV time). SO...is this me using an electronic babysitter or using my time wisely? Why sit and watch it with him and then later have him trying to grab the stove while I'm cooking? An opinions are good. Be nice. I'm a good loving mom who spends lots of quality time during my busy day with my little man.|||As long as you are comfortable with what he is watching, and can keep an eye on him, I don't think this is a problem. With your husband away, you need all the help you can get. Don't beat yourself up, you're doing a great job!|||You didnt mention how old he is.... lots of kids can only be distracted by a few things.... Its not how much he watches it's what he watches... now a day sthere are plenty of developmentally friendly programs for kids.... i your only one person and you shouldnt have to burn yourself out because someone online says your bad.... you shoudl try the leap pad baby video game.. its controller goes from baby to toddler and you get different games for it... you program it to your dvd player so there are no cords! they're educational and engaging.... best of all you can program up to 3 different dvds to the controller because there are 3 buttons.... you can bring it to someone elses house and all you need is the disc and the controller!|||Yes Tv is an electronic babysitter for many children but it is always best for them to have active things to do instead of watching tv all the time. I understand your situation though as a single mom who needs some "me time" sometimes. It is easy to fall into the tv trap. Is there anything else he can play with while you are busy doing your school work? How old is your son? If you give them 10-20 minutes of playtime with you doing something of his choice then he should do ok entertaining himself with toys (or books if he can read) for long enough for you to do homework. I do understand the TV in the morning though, I remember that being the only reason I got up early in the morning for school when i was younger. And while most Dr's recommend no more than an hour of TV a day I find that a little more isn't going to hurt but I would draw the line at 2 no more than 3 hrs of TV a day if your son only sits there. My boys are active and still play and interact with the shows and movies while watching them.|||You are doing what you need to do to raise a happy healthy son. If TV is part of that then so be it as long as you have some time set aside for things just the 2 of you do together. You are in a sense raising him as a single mother and you need to use your time wisely. It sounds like you are doing a great job.|||Sounds to me as if you're doing just fine. At least you are being conscious about the amount of time he spends in front of the TV. Another great way to occupy your child while attempting to accomplish the hundreds of other tasks a mom has is to have him sit in the kitchen with you. Put him at the kitchen table and give him crayons and coloring books. Or even play-doh if you're feeling adventurous! These are good activities that will keep him busy and will help make you feel better about the TV issue. I have three boys, a full time job and the housework so I feel your pain!|||All mothers take the easy way out from time to time. We have to. Don't beat yourself up. All kids watch too much tv. Make sure it is educational and not harmful. You do your best, and giving yourself a couple of hours during the day to get done what needs to get done is not a sin.

As long as you spend quality time with him when you can, you are fine. Make sure you do a lot of reading with him too. You might also want to let him build with blocks or legos or something while he is watching tv.

One thing I did when my kids were 3 or 4 was have them count and keep track of how many of a certain item was on TV during a certain time frame. This keeps their mind actively working while watching tv. It could have been as simple as how many different girls are on this show? Or as complex as count all the square items you see. Anything, the objective is to keep them thinking.

Good luck, and you are doing a great job, Never second guess yourself|||As long as he is watching something that is educational or geared for his age group then I think that it is fine. I do home daycare and when I go to make lunch (I won't do cold meat sandwiches so lunches take a bit for me to cook), I put a movie of some kind in for the kids. I know that none of the children are going to get hurt while I am in the kitchen then. (My house is set up so that I can still hear everything that is going on in the living room and the kids are free to go into the toy room and play if they would like.)

I say that if it is easier for you to do something with him watching tv then go for it. If he is not sitting in front of a tv all day then there is nothing wrong with it. All parents deserve to have a little time to themselves, if this is how you get it then so be it. He is still getting attention from you and I bet if he really wanted you to sit and watch some tv with him, then you would take the time to do it. It isn't like you are trying to neglect him in anyway, it is just easier to get some things done without a kid hanging on you. I understand completely.

How come when I tilt my LCD I can see the inverted colors of the image?

I have a mini LCD on a portable electronic I have. Like a video iPod. It's colored, and when I tilt the screen about 90 degrees away from my face near eye level, I can see the image in its inverted colors. Why do my eyes invert the colors of the image?|||Liquid crystal generate colors by polarizing light with molecules that can be rotated using magnetic force. It's probably because liquid crystals is refracting different colors of light at different angles.|||Remember that the light has the whole spectrum of the rainbow colors. Regarding the LCD it is inverted because the beam is inverted by the machine so that you would see the screen. In iPod's there is also a spectrum of light because it acts like a mirror reflecting the light. So it inverts the colors.

How many of you had an intervention-free birth?

I think that is a clearer term than natural childbirth. I did have an episiotomy with my first one because of fetal distress and the midwife broke the water at 8 cm with my last birth. Other than that, I had no interventions: no IV, no electronic monitor, no epidural, and no pitocin. My baby never had the eye drops or the vitamin K shot either.|||My first birth was full of interventions but my second birth was completely intervention free at home... water broke while i was pushing.

My first birth my water broke on its own and then i had pictocin, epidural, continuous fetal monitoring, antibiotics in labor all of that junk.

Pink that depends on where you live. I have soem friends who birth in the hospital and refused Vitamin K ( you can choose oral instead) and eye ointment|||For you to have had an *intervention-free birth* you MUST have delivered either at home or at a birthing center! Those are the ONLY 2 places that would allow you to refuse the eye drops and vitamin K shot!

I was slotted for a home birth with my 4th and final until we found twins - wasn't going to happen after that

Why do people want to interpret dreams when they can control them themselves?

It's called Lucid dreaming, where you become aware that you're dreaming and control it yourself. It was first done in a lab, then someone made an electronic mask that alerts you when you have rapid eye movement (rem) sleep with flashing LEDs and sound. In rem sleep you're logic center is turned off, so you can do the impossible. I flew over cities and other interesting things. It seems as real as the waking state. You don't have to use the mask to do it. Go to "you *ube" and enter lucid dreaming to learn how. Have fun!|||It's because it's sort of hard to master for others and dreams are meaningful and you shouldn't try to control them when they are trying to tell you soemthing.

Why are the electronic voting machines already flipping votes to Republicans?

In early voting, the Heavily used voting machines are coming up with summary pages that don't have Democrats last names. The machines also change the chosen Democrat's name for governor's to the Republican candidate, right before the voter's eyes.

Voters are having to alert poll workers to come into the booth and try to fix the problem.

No paper trails, unreliable results, slow process and "buyer's remorse on Republican owned Diebold voting machines.

How does this further voter suppression?|||Now you know why I voted on paper. May not get counted but it's there and I know it's there. I just read another story about how the NSA computers taps voter main computers in each State to "watch" the election results. Watch, yeah right!|||I heard the opposite about votes getting changed from Republicans to Democrats. The Dems must be cheating. Honestly, I do not believe that this is happening. I think that voter fraud is grossly exagerated and if it is happening, both sides are doing it and it all evens out in the end. Don't be so trusting in your party. Do you really believe that two parties filled with career politicians and lawyers, funded by corrupt special interest groups have any honesty left in them. They will both cheat if given the chance.|||Oh boy... what a mess we live in with these voting machines. The Republican party in my district have been asking that as many people as possible vote absentee ballot. Why? Because the Republicans in this country are just as leery about these voting machines as Democrats in this country.

I realize that this question is pointing at the Republicans as the ones who spearheaded this voting machine thing, and there are Republicans out there claiming it was the Democrats...

Let's be realistic here, it was just a poor decision by all these districts who bought into them. I personally don't care about "killing off some trees" to get the good old paper ballot back in place. At least then we do have some solid paper trails and not short change anyone.|||It furthers voter suppression by not tallying the correct votes for the candidate voted for.|||Whatever. People will say anything to get into a fight over politics.|||I would throw out the vote of any machine that came out 51/49 as that is the number they are flipped to!!

Here is the testimony before Congress!!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JEzY2tnwE鈥?/a>

It's not groundwork, it's fact! 2 kids from MIT wrote the same code, Diabold admits there machines are flawed! Just do a google. This is no secret information! If you listen to the testimony you will see that the pater that it prints out is flawed as well! This guy wrote the program for the Speaher of the House in Florida befoer the elections in 2.000! He was a NASA programmer as well!

The kids from MIT will show you exactly how they did it and how easy it is to do!

I am sorry, Idon't trust a computer without original paper from some place else, like a ballot! You have absolutely no way to know whether a machine has been rigged or not! I prefer that my vote count and not get flipped by a machine! What if the Dems were in power, they could do the same to the Republicans! No wonder dead people are winning elections!|||Sounds as if you are laying the groundwork for your excuses, if the election does not go your way.|||You are wrong, Electronic voting machines favor neither party. Our machines over here in California do have a printed paper trail on the left side of the machine. It looks like a printed grocery store reciept.|||My apologies!

There do seem to be some problems, the problems don't seem to be exactly what you describe however i do beleive that the formatting seems to be rather confusing... something about the oponents name lighting up when you choose your candidate... I'm not sure if the change in color indicates a vote had registered for that candidate or is just to differentiate between the chosen and unchosen. It certainly does sound confusing tho. Why would the opposing candidate light up and not to one you selected? thats pretty weird.|||You've discovered it...the vast right-wing conspiracy!

Poll::Do you think electronic/techno killed pop/music?

I think it did!! I hate all that elctric stuff like the new the black eye peas song|||Yes! It sucks, I'm totally over mainstream now, well majority of it. Yeah, I mean I loved Where Is The Love - Black Eyed Peas...but now it's just about the sound and what sounds good in clubs.

That's why I've got my own style :D|||noo i love all kinds of music from acoustic versions, to rock, to techno, dub step etc etc....|||No, Justin Barbie is killing it.

Opinion on this telescope for an amateur?

My boyfriend has wanted a telescope for a while. I purchased this on an impulse buy and am wondering if it's worth the money.....

Galileo 700mm x 60mm Astro/Terrestrial Refractor Telescope

Three Removable Eyepieces:

6mm = 117x/351x

12.5mm=56x/168x

20mm=35x/105x

Also has a 3x Barlow lens. And the Galileo Triology CD Rom Set which includes the Galileo Planetarium,Instructional Telescope Video, and Britannica Touch the Sky - Touch the Universe.

And has the Mars Eye Electronic Locator which uses the red dot to find things.

I paid 89.99 plus tax. Worth it or can I find something better for my money? I'm willing to spend up to $150 and this said it was normally $149 and was on sale.

Thanks so much!|||That would be an OK telescope for the price. But it wil be dissapointing. It is an OK beginers scope but for 50 or 60 more you could get a better Reflector (note: not a refractor). What you have would be OK for viewing the planets and the Moon. To really get your moneys worth I would suggest getting better eye pieces. But these would cost quite a bit ($30-$130 or more) so I would just get another telescope.

If you want to view stars and nebulae and galaxies I would go for a Reflector. The bigger the aperature (the diameter) the better, and more expensive. I would say that what you got is OK but not great.

If your boyfriend finds he likes astronomy and wants something a bit better but not break the bank then I would suggest geting a Meade ETX-125 ($500 on Ebay) or ETX-90. They have an auto guide (they follow the stars) and a computer that lets you select what you want to see from a menu and it just goes there (some set up required). And a bunch of other stuff.

If he wants the good stuff I would suggest the Meade LX90GPS or the LX200R. These are big and expensive but very nice!

I think what you got was OK for your boyfriend to try and find out if he likes it. But a relector would have been better and not much more expensive. Look on ebay for a reflector. You should beable to find a basic one for 150-200.

I would suggest that if your boyfriend wants bigger telescope to do research on what would be best.|||Don't do it! Those cheap refractors will disapoint the hell out of you. Look for a 4 or 4.5-inch reflector on ebay - write me for more details, I know a lot about this but don't have time to write right now. Buying a first scope will be much more successful if you research first.

http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-Black-4-5-Telesc鈥?/a>|||It's a good buy for the money.

Thank you very much, while you're up.|||i bought a $250 refractor, very disappointing so i took it back and bought a 6" reflector off of eBay for $300, much better|||I think you got a good deal. This telescope will either get him interested in getting a bigger scope or he will let it collect dust. This is a good starting place. I highly recommend also buying him a copy of the latest "Sky and Telescope" magazine, available on most higher level news stands, such as Borders, etc. and include it with your gift. Or better yet, use your extra money to buy him a one year subscription. This magazine is the greatest for the budding amateur astronomer. Oh, and by the way, throw the 3X barlow in the trash or else save it for a bigger telescope. It is worthless on a scope that small. On the other hand, it might be useful in viewing "heavenly bodies" through the windows of the girl's dormatory........just a thought.|||It depends upon what you are doing with it. That should be a better scope than Galileo ever had. But then again there is such a high range of scopes available. What you have chosen is totally fine for viewing bright objects and almost ideal for looking at the moon. If you are interested in deep sky and dim objects you need something with a larger lens or mirror. Higher magnification in a refractor means more problems with chromatic aberration that can only be countered by increasing the focal length. this soon becomes uncomfortable to pack around.

Reflecting (Newtonian) scopes using a curved mirror offer no chromatic(colour) error but soon become huge. They give very good light gathering but refractors are still king on bright objects because of their clarity when constructed right.

What you have chosen is a good beginning scope.

If your interest holds for a year and you upgrade it will have been a very good beginner scope.

It will also work nicely as a terrestrial scope if you want it to.

Edit you might want to check the program "stellarium" out. It was designed for running planetariums and is a free program. very good.|||You can find something better. I'd return it quickly. Generally you need at least $400 to get a good telescope but Orion Telescopes does offer fairly decent beginner scopes for about $150.

You will want to buy a reflector, not a refractor, and make sure it's aperture, the diameter of the primary mirror, is no smaller than 4.5"

That's about 114mm.

By the way, on the Galileo the 700mm x60mm is read as follows. The 700mm is the focal length of the telescope. This is the distance the light travels from the lens until the point it comes to a focus near the eyepiece. So it's almost the length of the telescope in refractors anyway. The 60mm is the telescope's aperture, which in this case is the diameter of the lens.

Binoculars may say 7x50 on them but this is a little different. The 7 is the number of times the object will be magnified, the 50 is in milimeters and is the diameter of the binocular's large lenses.
