I'm currently a senior with a passion for science and mathematics and an eye on majoring in engineering (electronic, bio-medical, civil, mech, nuclear). I didn't accrue much project-based working experience while actively engaging in my high school clubs, so I'm worried that I might not be able to keep up with other kids who may already have a knack for focused work on a out-of-class science project.
Have you ever been in this situation? How did you cope? Were you successful?|||Science/math clubs at the college level rarely do anything at all. They're mostly something for those kids to put on their grad school applications to make it look like they have social skills. What you're thinking of is research with a professor.

Is it just me? Or are digital camera manufactures equipping cameras with zoom lenses?
Looking for a digital camera with a 35mm size electronic sensor and prime lenses fish eye to 300mm or longer long lenses.
Single lenses would be or be pretty close in focal length to these and have F2.8 or better apertures...
A fish eye lens, a 21mm wide angle lens, 28mm, 35mm, 50mm 1.2, 85mm, 90mm, 135mm, 200mm, 300mm and 400mm lenses.|||Well I can welcome you to the world of DSLR
Yes nowadays the Zoom Kitlens is standard. And in the world of compacts only very few have a prime lens. I agree Prime lenses are sharp and easy to have wide open.
Yet most consumers just want a zoom so they get it with all the negative by effects.
If you want better well there is the Fuji X-100, the Sigma DP1 and Sigma DP2...each of those have primes. And take the NEX-5 from Sony a hit in Japan, with as one of its lenses a 16mm [effective 24mm] Prime.
But Primes are definitely in the area of the professionals.
Is this bad? I dunno lets be fair would digital photography have given us cheaper DSLR's on what we can put expensive Primes [and not so expensives Primes] if they weren't bought allot by people using just zoom and kit lenses.
We must be happy with that the price point has been pushed down so quick that for the price of half a vacation one can start their adventure in DSLR country. Yes few will ever outgrow the cheaper lenses. And I agree that having better lenses can be such fun.
It is a balance.. selling high numbers means cheaper price. Most people are happy with the performance of the relative slower zooms yes.
And not every zoom is terrible, I got a nice Tamron 28-75 that is unbelievable cheap for what you get. F2,8 over the full range.. reasonable sharp at F2,8 but from F4 on it is tack sharp. For less then $400.. these are the little secrets we ought to share.|||a couple thousand dollars won't cut it

What are those little electronic pets that came in an orange plastic container called? from the early 00's?
I remember when I was in elementary school me and my friend had these little electronic pets that came in a clear plastic container with a top and an orange bottom, that was sort of oval shaped. There was like, a horse, and a dog, and all these animals, and their eyes lit up and they moved around and stuff. I really want to know what they were called! A tablet with electronic paper display?
Is there any tablet that's like an iPad but also has the electronic paper display of a Kindle so that I can read books on it and it wouldn't hurt my eyes? If not are they going to come up with such technology soon and are there any devices that have been announced?|||The electronic paper technology used in dedicated ebook readers like the Kindle has an extremely slow refresh rate. So slow that if you tried to play a video on one the best you would get is a slideshow. In other words they are ill suited for a tablet device.
Now there is a new kind of LCD called 3Qi, developed by the company Pixel Qi. While it's not true electronic paper, with the backlight turned off it does have many of the same benefits. Plus by turning the backlight on you get full color (Kindle is only black and white). Most critically though it can handle video playback, with or without said backlight.

Why do my eyes hurt to move?
I'm 13 and a female. For about four days, my eyes really hurt to move them! I don't think it's eye strain, because I've had eye strain before and it never lasted this long.
Should I splash water in my eyes or would that make it worse? What should I do? I'm usually not doing anything electronic because I've already read a few sites that said not to do anything electronic if my eye hurt. But what is this, and how can I make it go away????

Is kindle harmful to eyes? Since it's an electronic display, isn't that kind of like reading on the computer?
I have very sensitive eyes that are bothered by most computer screens, and the kindle screen doesn't bother me at all.
As mentioned the E-ink display on the kindle doesn't have a backlit which will cause eyestrain, but is like looking at real ink.
