Is kindle harmful to eyes? Since it's an electronic display, isn't that kind of like reading on the computer?

I have very sensitive eyes that are bothered by most computer screens, and the kindle screen doesn't bother me at all.

As mentioned the E-ink display on the kindle doesn't have a backlit which will cause eyestrain, but is like looking at real ink.

Another tip, if you in the market, you can get a good deal on a kindle here:

The basic wifi kindle for $114 is good for most people for a basic reader. You might consider upgrading to the 3g model if you love the internet since you can use the web for free anywhere.|||It is like reading on paper. There is no back light like a computer.

ʎəɿʞɹɐq  ̊ ͜͡● ̊|||Kindles have E Ink displays, which is very different from the back-lit LCD displays used with computers. Many people like reading from these so much that they happily forgo the color capability of an LCD display for the sharpness of an E Ink display. The letters on an E Ink display emit no light; nor does the background. Just like with a physical book, an external light source reflects off the letters.

Furthermore, Kindles use the latest E Ink display technology, Pearl, which provides 50% better contrast than the earlier Vizplex technology found in monochrome Nooks and Kobos. (Sonys are the other major ereader that have E Ink Pearl displays.)
