The button, remote, or key pad need to be pressed 8 to 15 times before the door will open. It closes usually on the first try. When the button is pressed to open the door the light flashes on and off and the unit makes a clicking sound. The electronic eyes at the door are properly aligned. After pressing the button 10 or 12 times the door finally opens. Can anyone help?|||Try changing the batteries in your remote. If this does not work Look for the manufacturers name on the lifting unit and phone their help line, they will tell you how to re-set the remote. If the manufacturers are Henderson, or if you have a green button on the lifting unit, take the remote control into the garage and press and release the button very quickly just once. Then press and hold for 10 seconds.|||Change the battery and try it again.|||Start by changing the battery in the remote.
Have you tried operating the door from the wired switch in the garage? If the doors opens when that button is pushed, then the problem is with the remote and not the door %26amp; opener.
If the remote still doesn't work after installing a new battery, clean the remote. Inspect the battery terminals to make sure a good connection is made with the battery. If you can, open the case to where the buttons are and make sure dirt hasn't built up around or in the switch control.|||It would help to know the brand, model #, and type of opener, as well as date of manufacture.
However, if this only happens when trying to open the door, you can rule out safety beams.
It sounds like one of the relays (open relay) on the control board is bad. Look up info on your particular machine and see if you can order a new board.
